Summary:
This book was about a cow that didn't feel special. So the cows friends, the chickens, devised a plan to make the cow feel special. They planted a egg under the cow so she would think she laid an egg. The farmer and his wife were so excited they called the newspaper, which made the other cows jealous. The other cows wanted Marjorie the cow to prove that she laid the egg. Then all of a sudden, the egg began to hatch. Out popped a baby brown chicken, it looked a Marjorie and said, "Mooooooo!"

Teacher Evaluation:
This was a cute book, showing that everyone wants to feel special. I would use this book to teach my students to always be kind and to lend a helping hand when needed.

Title: The Other Side Author: Jacqueline Woodson  Genre: Historical Fiction Awards: N/A Age Group: 8-10 Summary: This book is about two little girls who we separated by a fence, that wasn't safe for them to climb over because the fence separated the whites and blacks. The little white girl would sit on the fence and watch the little black girl play, and one day she saw the black girls playing and asked if she could join, and one of the girls said no. They saw each other in town, and the black girl watched the white girl play in the rain. Once the rain stopped, the little girls introduced themselves and both sat on the fence together. They were very close in age and grew up in the shadows of each other. Whatever Venus did, Serena did too. They started playing tennis, but would clean the courts at the crack of dawn.
